S001 – Starting an Early Childhood Ministry or Lutheran Elementary School
This module helps congregations think through the reasons and logistics of starting, expanding, or revitalizing a preschool, childcare, other form of early childhood ministry, or Lutheran elementary school.
The attached resources are ten chapters of Building Blocks: A Handbook for Beginning and Operating a Christian Early Childhood Ministry. Each chapter can be used on its own for a specific topic. S002 – School Accreditation & Quality Assurance
The module stresses the importance of a continuous school improvement plan for schools at all levels. It encourages the congregation to consider WELS School Accreditation (WELSSA). WELSSA is a process in which the school evaluates its current education practices and seeks sound methods to build on its strengths and determine new ways to grow and strengthen the educational ministry of the school for the benefit of the students and parents to the glory of God.
S003 – Using a School or ECM for Outreach
This module lays out rationale and strategy for using you educational ministry as a bridge into the community. It contains strategies for promoting various aspects of the school: the Bible-based curriculum, the academic goals, a loving/nurturing environment.
S004 – Ministerial Growth and Evaluation Process
This module lays out a program for producing an education climate with a commitment to livelong learning, continuous growth, and ongoing ministry development.
The WELS Ministerial Growth and Evaluation Process includes the idea that reflecting Jesus’ love to others within a changing educational climate requires WELS educators to have a steadfast commitment to lifelong learning, continuous growth, and ongoing ministry development.
The WELS Ministerial Growth and Evaluation Process is designed to collaboratively improve ministry for the health and wellness of WELS schools and is based on some of the most impactful ways to develop in teaching. The process has four main parts.
